What’s the story?

I grew up in Durango, CO and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997, where I got my first job at a custom cabinet shop shortly after.

In 2003, having gained several years of professional experience and training, I applied and was accepted to the Krenov School of Fine Woodworking, located on the northern CA coast, in the town of Fort Bragg. I studied fine furniture making there for two years, graduating in 2005 after having received over 3500 hours of formal instruction and practice in traditional fine woodworking and furniture making.

After graduating from furniture school, I moved back to San Francisco where I had the privilege of working as a furniture and cabinet maker in an excellent custom shop for the next seven years.

During that time I enrolled in the California College of Arts, initially for its architecture program, but switched to illustration after my first year, working at the furniture shop while attending school.  I graduated with honors and a BFA in 2011.

In 2012 I moved to New York City to pursue a graduate degree at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, where I earned an MFA in the Illustration as Visual Essay program.

Upon completing my MFA, I returned to Durango, Colorado in 2014 and have been working in Durango and its surrounding communities as a furniture and cabinet maker since.
